NRL footy tips Round 19: Freddy, Joey and all of Nine's stars give their winners
The Dragons are under huge pressure to end a shocking form slump, with coach Paul McGregor and the club's Origin players feeling the heat as they battle to stay in touch with the top eight.
A loss to the Rabbitohs on Friday night will just about take playoffs out of reach, forcing the Dragons to roll the dice with an early return from injury for skipper and five-eighth Gareth Widdop.
Widdop will resume his place in the No.6 jersey alongside million dollar halfback Ben Hunt, pushing Corey Norman to fullback and livewire Matt Dufty back to the bench.
It's a combination that the Dragons chopped and changed prior to Widdop's injury and speaking on Wide World of Sports' Freddy & Joey's Tips, NSW coach Brad Fittler wondered if the latest incarnation of the spine was the right one to turn things around.
"At the start of the year it was all about Gareth Widdop, Corey Norman and Ben Hunt and how to fit all that in," Fittler said.
"Widdop's back, they've got him playing five-eighth, Corey Norman's gone back to fullback and they've got rid of Matt Dufty, who I thought gave them a lot of speed and added something different.
"He's coming off the bench, so I'm going to go Souths, but I think it'll be a pretty tight game."
