Freddy might have his hands full with the NSW State of Origin team but he has still managed to find time to close the gap on Gus in the Wide World of Sports footy tipping panel.

Gus still holds the lead on 71 but Freddy and Joey have narrowed the deficit to only three games, Sterlo is midfield poised to make his run, while Locky and Wally still haven’t given up hope at the bottom of the table.

Fittler said he was looking forward to the match between St George Illawarra and Parramatta, live and free on Nine from 7.30pm on Thursday night, and tipped the Dragons having been involved with forwards Paul Vaughan Jack De Belin and Tyson Frizell during the Blues’ Origin series win.

“I’m just trying to think how they all pulled up,” Fittler said.

“I know they were going to give (Frizell) a rest, they were going to give him an extended rest. He should be right for the next Origin game.

“De Belin’s playing with that hip injury he’s been playing with for a while so it will be interesting to see if he backs up.

“Vaughan will be ok, he was really good Vaughan, he was fast. He’s got fast feet.”

Joey declared the Dragons as ‘specials’ and added the Eels, who are currently last on the ladder, had been dreadful this season.

“The Dragons will win this one and win well,” Johns said.

“Parramatta at the moment are going terribly. They get (five-eighth) Mitchell Moses back but I can’t see Parramatta troubling the Dragons.”

Joey said he was also looking forward to the showdown between the Sydney Roosters and Melbourne at Adelaide Oval, live and free on Nine from 7,30pm on Friday night, which will see Cooper Cronk up against his old teammates from the Storm.

“The Roosters a lot of injury concerns, a lot of players out,” Johns said.

“I’m going to lean towards the Roosters in a real tight one.

“I think it will be a low-scoring game, I think the Roosters by one, I wouldn’t be surprised if Cronk ices the game with a field goal.”
