Andrew Johns says there’ll be plenty of spice when Brisbane takes on Melbourne on Sunday, given the ongoing uncertainty over the future of both coaches.
Intrigue continues to surround the identity of the Broncos’ coach for 2019, with Craig Bellamy yet to commit to the Storm amid rumours he will replace Wayne Bennett in Brisbane.
The match will be shown live and free on Nine from 3pm Sunday, and with both teams sitting on 16 competition points there is plenty to play for.
The Broncos have won four of their last five matches dating back to April, but Johns believes the defending premiers will bring that winning run to an end.
“Craig Bellamy will win this one, I like the Storm down there,” Johns said.
“No Billy Slater for Melbourne, due to his hamstring injury. It will be interesting to see if he plays the following week.
“I’m going to lean towards the Storm in this one, it’s a bit of a juicy one considering the two coaches are coming up against each other.”
Gold Coast hosts third-placed Souths in Friday night football, live and free on Nine from 7:30pm, and Johns is expecting plenty of points.
“This will be a really high scoring, entertaining game, but for me the Rabbitohs will win by a try or two,” Johns said.
Phil Gould continues to lead the Wide World of Sports tipping competition, although his margin has been cut to just two points as we head into the second half of the season.
