Luai already cashing in on PNG deal as new sponsor deal unveiled
Jarome Luai is still more than 12 months away from running onto the field with the PNG Chiefs, but he’s already reaping the financial rewards for signing as a foundation marquee player.
Luai was unveiled by Pepsi Papua New Guinea as a new brand ambassador on Friday – his first PNG-based third-party sponsorship deal since he formally signed with the Chiefs in April.

The contract is reportedly a five-year deal that will likely see the star half’s face plastered on billboards across PNG.
The deal was announced in a hyperbolic Instagram post on Friday.
“Bold, fearless and impossible to ignore, Jarome brings the energy, confidence and attitude that Pepsi is all about,” it read.
“With Jarome’s signing for the PNG NRL Team opening an exciting new chapter, the momentum is only getting started.”
The post included a photo of Luai with PNG Kumul No.1 Paul Chue and two of his sons Everett and Ashlon. Chue is the chairman of Pacific Industries, which holds the Pepsi licence for PNG. The company was founded by his father Gabriel.
“Jarome represents not only exceptional skill on the field but also humble beginnings and Pacific Islands Heritage that resonate deeply with the people of Papua New Guinea,” Chue said in a statement.
“We believe in sport being a vehicle to inspire communities, develop youth potential, and foster unity across this beautiful country.
“As PNG moves closer to realising the dream of a national NRL team, Jarome’s role is a beacon for all aspiring players and fans alike.”
Luai has two games remaining with the Tigers before a move down the M4 to Parramatta for next season.
News Corp reports Luai will need to travel to PNG at some point mid-season next year to fulfil his commitments to the cola giant, which the Eels were aware of before signing him.
