Sharks star avoids mass exodus with fresh contract
Sharks fullback Will Kennedy has confirmed his future, signing another one-year extension at the club.
Kennedy made his debut for the Sharks in 2019 and in recent seasons has inked deals that are one year only.

“I’m very pleased to be staying here for another year,” Kennedy said.
“I started here in the SG Ball, I’ve come through the ranks, been lucky to play so many games and this club is a special part of me.
“I had a big preseason, my hard work and what I’ve put into the games has paid off, I’m happy with what the club has given me, and I want to repay them for that.”
By re-signing, Kennedy has avoided being part of a roster overhaul at the Sharks with a number of players heading out the exit door.

Siosifa Talakai and Chris Vea’ila will move to the Perth Bears, Jesse Ramien and Sione Katoa are off to the Cowboys, Mawene Hiroti is Gold Coast bound while Cameron McInnes is heading to the Super League.
There’s also the likes of Toby Rudolf, Braden Hamlin-Uele, Jayden Berrell and the Puru brothers - Niwhai and Hohepa - who are still unsigned.
Despite many moving pieces at the Sharks for next season, Kennedy believes a premiership is achievable.
“I want to keep playing consistent footy and the big goal is to win a comp,” he said.
“I want to do that for the club and the people and players here.”
Sharks football boss Darren Mooney praised the attitude of Kennedy during his time at the club.
“Will is one of our most consistent performers week in, week out. He has been an integral part of our success over recent seasons, and we expect him to continue to play an important role for us moving forward,” he said.
“Will’s character, professionalism and dedication to our club is unwavering, and we very pleased he has agreed to extend his time with us until at least the end of 2027.”
While Kennedy has committed for next season, the deal leaves him open to rivals come November 1 with Perth entering the competition in 2027 followed by PNG the next year.
