Warriors survive late Titans surge as Alofiana Khan-Pereira tears up old club

Warriors winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira had a day out against his old club, but it was nearly for nought as his side survived a late fightback against the Titans.

With a stiff breeze in his back, Khan-Pereira scored the opening two tries of the match – including a spectacular aerial effort to extend his side's lead – as the hosts went into the sheds at half time with a 22-0 lead.

"It's been a demolition job, this first half," Luke Keary said for Fox Sports at half time.

But with the wind in their face, the Warriors had a much tougher time of it in the second half. The Titans too came out a different side, and scored four tries to one in a much better display.

The Titans scored a flurry of tries late in the second half and looked briefly like they might threaten a comeback, but were eventually beaten by the clock. The Warriors held on 28-20.

Khan-Pereira scored 53 tries from 54 appearances for the Titans between 2025-2025, and only made his first appearance as a Warrior against the Storm last week.

Tanah Boyd, another former Titan, chipped in with four goals. He played 69 matches for the Titans between 2019-2024.

Boyd said kicking into the wind in the second half was a kick it and hope situation, but conceded the side's second half effort was sub-par.

"Pretty disappointing ... just letting them come back into the game, not turning up for each other," he said on Fox Sports after the game.

"We'll address that - that's not how we want to play. We'll be disappointed but there are some good signs there."

Despite failing to back up from their thumping win over the Eels a week ago, league great Mal Meninga said Titans fans should still take away some positivity from the side's second-half performance.

"There is some hope and optimism there," he said on Fox Sports.

"They played really well in that second half - they didn't give up, they kept at it.1

"I feel by the end of the season, when they start to believe in what they're doing and the processes and systems (coach Josh Hannay) is putting in place, eventually they'll get it.

"There was something in that second half that will give all Titans fans hope."

The Warriors will host the Dolphins on Anzac Day next Saturday, while the Titans head into a week off.
