Dragons five-eighth Kyle Flanagan has been cleared of any serious injury following scans at hospital after a head clash with teammate Hayden Buchanan.

Flanagan was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital as a precaution after sustaining the heavy concussion and potential neck injury against the Titans, but imaging confirmed no structural damage.

The team issued a statement that Flanagan will continue to be monitored by club medical staff under NRL concussion protocols regarding the return-to-play timeline and he is travelling home with the team on Monday.

Flanagan was stretchered off the field after a case of friendly fire caused distressing scenes at Cbus Super Stadium.

While trying to tackle Oliver Pascoe, Flanagan's head clash with Buchanan immediately knocked him out, with Steve "Blocker" Roach admitting on Fox League that "Flanagan (looked) to be in all sorts of trouble."

Blood was shown coming from his face as he laid on the ground before a medicab had to be used to transport him off the field.

There was frustration from the Titans with the referee calling time off as Tino Fa'asuamaleaui was crossing the line off the next play the ball.

However, the seriousness of the situation took over as a long delay followed.

Post-match, Dragons coach and Kyle's father Shane Flanagan admitted his son was "agitated" and knocked out for possibly five minutes.

"He's been taken to hospital. Someone said he was unconscious for five minutes so that's a big concern. He's rang his mum and his wife and they're taking him for precautionary X-rays," he said.

The coach was unable to confirm if there was any neck damage after he was taken off in a brace.
