'It's not a bump': Heath Mason offered one-game ban for shove on referee Gerard Sutton

Wests Tigers fullback Heath Mason has been whacked for an apparent shove on referee Gerard Sutton in the Tigers' 28-10 loss to the Sea Eagles on Friday night.

Mason appeared to shove Sutton in the back as Corey Waddell and Luke Brooks almost scored for Manly.

Mason was jogging at the time of the contact, suggesting he wasn't trying to get involved in the play.

"That was quite a heavy fall," Fox Sports commentator Andrew Voss said.

It was the second instance of a referee taking a tumble this weekend. In Thursday night's thriller between the Bulldogs and Panthers, Grant Atkins took a tumble when he was accidentally collected by Panthers prop Moses Leota.

Voss then suggested Mason's was less accidental then Leota's.

"It's not a bump ... on report you go," he said of the Mason contact.

The MRC evidentally agreed. While Leota was cleared of any wrongdoing on Friday, Mason was not. On Saturday morning, he was slapped with a grade two contrary conduct charge and offered a one match ban. He'll get a second week on the sideline if he fights the charge and loses.

Mason wasn't the only player cited by the MRC on Saturday.

Knights lock Phoenix Crossland was fined for a careless high tackle on Corey Horsburgh in the 26th minute of his side's 22-18 loss to the Raiders.
