Gold Coast Titans coach Des Hasler has been warned by the NRL for criticism of match officials, after he said Bunker official Kasey Badger was "wrong, again" with a decision.

Hasler was not happy after Sam Verrills was denied a try, with the Bunker ruling the hooker touching Tino Fa'asuamaleaui's leg therefore obstructed Melbourne's defence.

The Titans coach was careful post-match but did criticise Badger.

"(Tino) played the ball so he was allowed to hold his ground, I was told," he said.

"The ball's laid on the ground, they were lying on the ground, six again, penalty, I don't know ... Papenhuyzen wasn't obstructed and that was the word for word what the NRL set out.

"I will be interested to see what their explanation was. Kasey got it wrong, again."

On Thursday afternoon, the NRL released a statement confirming Hasler is one his "final warning for direct and targeted criticism of NRL match officials".

"The final warning relates to comments made by Mr Hasler following round 13 of the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership, as well as previous public statements regarding officiating," the statement read.

"Mr Hasler has been reminded of his obligations under the NRL Rules and Code of Conduct as well as his general responsibility as a sporting leader.

"Negative public remarks about match officials significantly hinder the recruitment and retention of match officials at the community and pathways tiers of the game.

"All rugby league participants are reminded to respect match officials who perform a vital role within the game."

Cowboys coach Todd Payten was hit with the same warning for his comments in mid-May.
