'She burned all her gear': Clint Gutherson's cheeky jab at Parramatta after 'weird' Dragons switch

Clint Gutherson had no issue getting rid of his Parramatta Eels gear after joining forces with the Dragons - and nor did his mother.

The fullback joined St George Illawarra at the end of last season after being told that his contract with the Eels would not be extended beyond its expiration in 2025.

Having spent a rollercoaster nine years in the blue and gold jersey, Gutherson admitted that his departure from the Eels was one he moved on from rather quickly.

However, the 30-year-old joked his emotions around the exit differed slightly to his friends and family, especially when it came to parting ways with his Parramatta gear.

"I've got a lot of friends who are always asking for gear, so it was pretty easy to get rid of ... packed it up and got it to them," he told SEN Breakfast.

"I know my mum, on the other side, she burned all her [Eels gear].

"It is pretty easy to get rid of it."

All eyes were on the Dragons new recruits during the pre-season trials as Gutherson donned the Red V for the first time alongside Val Holmes, Lachlan Ilias and Emre Guler.

The 30-year-old admitted wearing the new colours for the first time was "a bit weird" but one he has come to love.

"The first few days were pretty weird to put the different colours on but I love it now," said Gutherson.

"As I said, you move on pretty quickly.

"Rugby league is a weird sport, you get into a new environment and you get along with those boys really quickly.

"It's been great. I'm really loving it so far and I can't wait to put on the jersey for real.

"Obviously, it all come to an end last year but you sort of deal with it pretty quick. I am a pretty easy going guy who just wants to play footy and enjoy it."
