If losing the game wasn't humiliating enough, Canberra made sure to rub salt into the wounds of Brisbane.

Raiders players hijacked the Broncos press conference by singing their song loudly from a neighbouring room while Michael Maguire and Adam Reynolds spoke to media.

The revved-up Green Machine had just sprung a huge upset to win the game 32-22 in the nation's capital on Saturday night.

As the losing coach and captain addressed the situation, Maguire had to speak up as the Raiders celebrated next door.

Whether it was by design or just an awkward coincidence, Maguire held his nerve.

"They jumped into us at the start and we didn't react hard enough and fast enough. Welcome to the NRL," Maguire said.

"It will be good for myself to observe and work with the group now.

Brisbane was heavy favourite to win the game after thumping the Roosters 50-14 just a week earlier.

But it was the Raiders who looked like a premiership contender, running in six tries including two to English debutant Matty Nicholson.

Raiders legend Mal Meninga was full of praise for Canberra, while serving a reality check to the Broncos.

"They were outplayed," Meninga said on Fox League.

"They had their colours lowered tonight, mainly because I think they thought they were going to come here and win."

Brisbane were the talk of the NRL after their win in round one.

Veteran playmakers Ben Hunt and Adam Reynolds were the stars of the show in Sydney but struggled to make an impact in Canberra.

Titans halfback Kieran Foran offered some advice to the pair.

"It's certainly not panic stations, because it's round two. They played well last week," Foran said on Fox League.

"But they obviously got their pants pulled down against Canberra tonight.

"I think they just got the fundamentals wrong. Their completion rate was 65 per cent, 15 errors overall - hard to win a game of footy when you're turning over that much footy.

"If I'm Adam Reynolds I'm going back to the drawing board. Let's get our effort areas and our fundamentals right, and pick ourselves up and get back into it next week.

I've played under Michael Maguire, I know what sort of bloke he is, and he will have them raring to go next week."

Brisbane hosts North Queensland in round three, while the Raiders take on Manly.
