The Storm all but locked in the minor premiership, the Tigers gave their faithful a rare reason to cheer, and Bulldogs continued their push towards the top four.
But on Friday night as the Roosters gave the Eels a lesson in wet-weather footy, a struggling star returned to form.
Who's made The Mole's round 24 team of the week?
1. Tom Trbojevic (Sea Eagles)
In horrible conditions for fullbacks, Turbo was faultless under the high ball, scored a try and had a hand in two others as Manly sealed a finals berth in the win over the Warriors.
2. Dominic Young (Roosters)
As the Roosters demolished the Eels on Friday night, Young bagged a hat-trick as to continue on his merry tryscoring way, despite playing on a field better suited for water polo.
3. Valentine Holmes (Cowboys)
After a shocker against the Broncos last week, Holmes bounced back with three tries and seven goals from as many attempts in the 42-4 demolition of the Raiders in Townsville on Saturday night.
4. Stephen Crichton (Bulldogs)
The buy of the year was again in peak form in the win over the Dolphins, coming up with some huge effort plays, producing a try assist and churning out over 100 running metres.
5. Jacob Kiraz (Bulldogs)
One of the most under-rated players in the comp, Kiraz loved the steamy conditions in Bundaberg. He scored two tries and ran over 250 metres in the emphatic win over the Dolphins.
6. Cameron Munster (Storm)
In his best game since returning from a groin injury four weeks ago, Munster made 16 runs for 146 run metres, and picked up a try assist and a line break assist as the Storm held in in a thriller against the Panthers.
7. Ben Hunt (Dragons)
Produced another of his vintage attacking games to steer the Red V to a vital win over a stubborn Titans side in Wollongong.
8. Josh Curran (Bulldogs)
Some blokes can't play with pain, but this fellow isn't one of them. He got bruised and battered but stayed on the field in a courageous display as the Dogs out-classed the Dolphins.
9. Brandon Smith (Roosters)
Having had only the one try assist all season, he produced two in the first half alone against the Eels. He's finding form just in time for the finals.
