UPDATED: Panthers star Taylan May has officially been stood down by the NRL under the no-fault stand-down policy after he was arrested by police last weekend over an alleged domestic violence incident last month.

May was named in Penrith's team to play the Warriors in Magic Round last Sunday, but was withdrawn after being stood down by the club.

The league has now stepped in to confirm the 22-year-old would not be able to participate in matches until the conclusion of his legal battle, while also revealing Manly player Brandon Wakeham had been stood down after being charged with drug offences.

"May has been charged with three domestic violence related offences, following an alleged incident on Monday, April 8, 2024.

"The decisions should in no way be interpreted as a view on the innocence or guilt of either player. Under the condition, the players are not permitted to participate as players in the NRL competition or other competitions."

Penrith has also acknowledged the decision from the NRL.

"The club will continue to provide support to all parties involved and will not make any further comment at this time," a statement said.

May was granted conditional bail, with the case scheduled to be heard in Penrith Local Court on May 28.
