'It was a little bit stressful': Tigers young gun Lachlan Galvin opens up on release request drama

Wests Tigers prodigy Lachlan Galvin has opened up on his release request drama as the Tigers aim to avoid the wooden spoon.

Galvin's management made a series of release requests in June despite the half being contracted to the Tigers until the end of 2026.

After a meeting between Tigers powerbrokers and Galvin's parents, the teenager agreed to stay with the club.

Two months later, Galvin has spoken out on the drama surrounding his future after declaring "I'm real happy" and "I'll be here next year".

"It annoyed me a bit, how much talk there was but I tried to stay away from that," he told media on Thursday.

"I play rugby league because I enjoy it and love it and I didn't let that get to me because I just wanted to play and train each week.

"It was a little bit stressful but I tried to keep that outside noise out."

The Tigers currently find themselves in a fight to lift themselves off the bottom of the ladder.

Benji Marshall's side are currently sitting on 12 points with the Eels on 16.

One of the club's best chances at a win will come this weekend when they play the 15th Rabbitohs at Campbelltown Oval.

Galvin said he's determined to repay the fans.

"I want to succeed for them too," he said.

"They're really good for us coming each week to our home games even though the results haven't gone our way, they're there each week and that's why we're working hard every day to try and get the results for them."
