Roosters enforcer Nathan Brown has been whacked with a potential two-week suspension for a high tackle against Manly.

Brown was sent off by referee Ashley Klein at the SCG on Thursday night barely 30 seconds after being brought off the bench by coach Trent Robinson.

The fiery former State of Origin representative flew out of the defensive line to put a shot on Trbojevic, but caught the Sea Eagles player on the chin with his shoulder.

Now the NRL's match review committee has made its assessment, offering Brown a one-game ban for a grade two offence, or he risks missing two if he fights it at the judiciary.

It comes a week after Cowboys star Valentine Holmes was sin-binned, and later suspended for four weeks for a nasty high tackle on Gold Coast's Jayden Campbell.

It was a third and subsequent offence for Holmes, who was initially offered a three-week ban but had it extended when he fought the charge at the judiciary, and lost.

Brown, 30, played for the Wests Tigers, South Sydney, and Parramatta before being traded mid-season to the Roosters this year.

A potential suspension will be a dent in the Roosters' hopes of qualifying for NRL finals this season, sitting 12th after Thursday's win.

Coach Robinson was livid that Klein chose to send Brown off for the incident.

"We've had high tackles, we've had shoulder charges, we've had all of that. That was a high tackle that hit him in the neck that had no effect on him (Trbojevic)," Robinson said.

"He got up and elbowed pretty quickly straight after, that wasn't sighted and went unpunished.

"If the goalposts have moved tonight then move them and then send him off, but if you can't mention when the last send off was.

"Nothing happened there tonight and he gets sent from the field."
