NRL elimination finals AS IT HAPPENED: Toby Rudolf crashes over as Cronulla claim finals upset over Roosters; Brian To'o seals Panthers victory with 60-metre try against Warriors

Another huge afternoon and evening of NRL finals footy as the Sharks and Panthers keep their premiership hopes alive.

For the Roosters and Warriors, it's time to pack their bags and look towards 2026.

Cronulla have advanced to the second week of the finals with a 20-10 victory at home and will take on the winner of Brisbane and Canberra next weekend.

The season comes to an end for the Roosters in heartbreaking fashion.

It looks like the Roosters season is coming to an end.

20-10 with just a few minutes to go.

Hynes comes up with an error on the half-way line after a strong tackle from Crichton.

Cronulla hold on in defence after a tip-on from Toia is deemed to have gone forward.

They go for a captain's challenge and the Bunker give a penalty to the Roosters after it's shown that Radley was taken off the ball by Trindall.

"That's nothing, it happens 100 times a game," Phil Gould said on Nine.

"Oh please, please please. That's not a penalty."

Nawaqanitawase attempts a chip kick in broken play, but Hynes catches it and runs away to put Cronulla in a strong position.

The cross-code sensation makes up moments later, defusing a towering bomb.

Cronulla extend their lead with a penalty goal after Smith strips the ball after the "held" call from on-field referee Todd Smith.

Iro comes in for a low legs tackle and Toia tries to hurdle him, but gets caught on the ankle and hits the ground hard, forcing the ball to spill out.

Cronulla get a chance in good-ball territory and go for a backline play off the scrum, but a pass from Mulitalo to Iro is called forward by the officials.

"It was all or nothing for one play," Phil Gould said on Nine.

Roosters survive for now. 15 minutes to go.

Trindall puts up a spiralling torpedo bomb, but Nawaqanitawase is up to the task.

Unfortunately, his wing partner Tupou comes up with a mistake inside their own half.

"You can see it, there's a lot of tired players - this has been at a frantic pace," Phil Gould said on Nine.

Less than 20 minutes to go and the fatigue has certainly kicked in.

A few errors creeping in from both sides in this elimination final.

"They are playing for their season these two teams - there is no tomorrow for them," Billy Slater said on Nine.

Smith comes up with a big shot as Cronulla work their way out of trouble.

They shift the ball to the left and Mulitalo gets a few metres away from claiming a hat-trick, but Nawaqanitawase comes up with the try-saving tackle.

"What's the score now Ronaldo?" Phil Gould quipped on commentary.

Cronulla struggle to get out of their own end in consecutive sets and it puts them under pressure with the Roosters winning the field position battle.

Walker places a deft grubber kick into the in-goal for Crichton and the back-rower pounces on it to score to put the visitors back into the game.

"There's the magician ... that is brilliant," Phil Gould said on Nine.

"That's why they score tries that other teams just don't. Sam Walker pulled the trigger."
