13 players who were picked in Nine's top 50 players for 2024 missed out this year. Four of them were Broncos
Ugly Queensland trend
The Broncos were the best represented club in a list that no player wants to be part of - those who made Nine's top 50 in 2024 but dropped out in 2025.
A total of 13 players who made last year's top 50 dropped out of the 2025 countdown. CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL 2025 TOP 50.
Two of the players who dropped out were ineligible after quitting the NRL at the end of the 2024 season.
Incredibly eight of the other 11 came from Queensland based clubs, with four big name Broncos among the most incredible casualties.
Scroll on to find out all of the players who dropped out of Nine's NRL top 50 players.
Tom Flegler - Dolphins
Last year's ranking: 50
It's pretty easy - and quite sad - to figure out why the Dolphins enforcer missed out on a spot in this year's list.
Flegler managed just four games with his new club before suffering a debilitating shoulder and neck injury that has placed his future in the NRL in doubt.
Selwyn Cobbo - Broncos
Last year's ranking: 49
A casualty of Brisbane's slide down the ladder and swapping positions, Cobbo missed out on selection this time around.
However, with a new coach and locking in a wing position permanently, Cobbo could shoot back into calculations for the top 50.
Damien Cook - Dragons
Last year's ranking: 47
Was starting to slide last year as South Sydney began to struggle and things only got worse for the livewire dummy-half.
Cook was dropped at one stage during the 2024 campaign and has since moved clubs, returning to the Dragons.
Jeremiah Nanai - Cowboys
Last year's ranking: 46
One of the most dangerous back-rowers in the competition had an up-and-down campaign, but still featured in the finals and at State of Origin level.
Nanai will need to take his game to another level this season, with Heilum Luki out long-term due to injury and Kulikefu Fineaufuiaki leaving the Cowboys.
David Fifita - Titans
Last year's ranking: 45
It was a bizarre year for Fifita, who signed with the Roosters before backflipping to remain on the Gold Coast.
His form remained strong on an individual basis, but was left out of the State of Origin side as the Titans struggled.
Jack Wighton - Rabbitohs
Last year's ranking: 44
A switch to the Bunnies didn't quite pay off for the former Dally M Medal winner as the side finished in 16th spot on the ladder.
Wighton enjoyed a solid individual campaign however, taking out the club's George Piggins Medal.
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak - Warriors
Last year's ranking: 43
Much like a lot of his Warriors teammates, the flyer struggled to replicate the form shown in their incredible 2023 season.
Watene-Zelezniak still managed to score 15 tries for his team, but his impact was much less than we'd come to expect.
Kotoni Staggs - Broncos
Last year's ranking: 39
Another player who dropped out of the list due to Brisbane's performances was their explosive centre, Staggs.
It was a tough year for the ex-NSW Blues star, but there's reason to believe he can bounce back.
Ezra Mam - Broncos
Last year's ranking: 38
Brisbane seem to be a focal point of this list and Mam was no exception.
After a starring role in the side's narrow grand final loss in 2023, the five-eighth struggled to replicate the same form and will do a long stretch in the sidelines in 2025 due to a suspension for an off-field incident.
