Sirianni fields question about daughter
The opening night for Super Bowl 2023 got off to a strange start.
As Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni fielded questions during his media availability at the Footprint Center in Arizona, the conversation took an odd turn.
When Sirianni was asked who on the Eagles roster he wouldn't let date his daughter, Sirianni replied, "My daughter is five years old."
Someone later asked Sirianni if this was a "must-win game."
He seemed less than impressed, and shot off a quick "yes" before fielding another question.
Tom Brady - Super Bowl XLII
NFL superstar Tom Brady has been to ten super bowls and walked away with seven rings.
In the early days of the Patriots dynasty, a younger Brady was asked: "What is your purpose in life?"
Joe Salave'a - Super Bowl XXXIV
Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Joe Salave'a was asked in the the week of Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000.
"What's your relationship with the football?"
"I'd say it's strictly platonic," Salavae'a said.
Tom Brady - again
The Super Bowl legend was asked what it was like growing up as the youngest boy in a family with three sisters.
"They were pretty easy on me," Brady said. "They dressed me up a few times in their clothes and painted my nails once, but it was nice."
Thurman Thomas - Super Bowl XXVIII
Bills running back Thurman Thomas was asked how he got psyched for big games.
"I read the newspaper and look at the stupid questions you all ask," he replied.
The Bills lost four straight Super Bowls in the early '90's.
Orlando Pace - Super Bowl XXXVI
For Rams offensive tackle Orlando Pace this question got a laugh.
"After the game, in the shower, what's your favourite bar of soap?"
If he was asked that question on the street the reaction might have been different.
Ray Lewis - Super Bowl XXXV
This question was asked of Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis: "How long have you been surrounded by thugs?"
The Baltimore star had a chequered history off the field, which included being indicted on murder charges before they were dismissed.
Dennis Pitta - Super Bowl XLVII
Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta was asked ahead of the big game: "On a scale of 1 to 10, how ticklish are you?"
Pitta's answer: "I'm probably a five or six. You know, moderately ticklish. Good question."
Joe Montana - Super Bowl XXIII
The four-time Super Bowl champion is a legend of the game but his presence alone wasn't enough for one reporter who asked Montana the week of Super Bowl XXIII in 1989: "So why do they call you Boomer?"
Correct answer: They don't. They called Boomer Esiason 'Boomer', and Esiason was the opposing quarterback when the Cincinnati Bengals played the San Francisco 49ers in that Super Bowl.
Bill Belichick - Super Bowl XXV
Belichick, the six-time Super Bowl winning coach is known for his lack of energy in press conferences. But reporters were surprised to get this little nugget during Super Bowl week.
Reporter: "What is your favourite movie starring Joe Pesci?"
Belichick: "Home Alone. Definitely Home Alone. No question about that. Home Alone and Home Alone 2 over the Christmas holidays. My Cousin Vinny. Put them all in there."
