'Unable to complete the course': Tommy Fury's lie about 100km triathlon finish exposed as race organisers reveal truth

Tommy Fury has been accused of lying about completing his first triathlon after it was revealed he did not successfully complete the full course in the French Riviera.

The 26-year-old boxer shared images of him crossing the finish line of a 100-kilometre triathlon in France last week, with his girlfriend and daughter cheering him on.

"Go ahead and roast my form ... but could you sprint finish after a 100km triathlon?" Fury captioned a video posted to his Instagram of him finishing the race.

Fury went on to claim he had finished the event with just "10 days of training", but his completion has since been deemed incorrect by the tournament's organisers.

The event organised by the Professional Triathletes Organisation was promoted as a 2km swim followed by an 80km bike ride and an 18km run.

Yet Fury's official results declare he did not successfully complete all stages.

According to reports by Marathon Investigation, the brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was among 93 athletes who didn't finish the cycling section.

Fury's race splits indicated he finished short of the 80km on the bike, completing 48km. He had also had his swimming leg cut short.

However, those splits were not entirely Fury's fault.

The Professional Triathletes Organisation confirmed that several athletes were affected by logistical issues involving the roads, which were required to be reopened before some had completed their laps.

"Due to our permit for the road closures in France, unfortunately Tommy and some other athletes in the 100km amateur race were unable to complete the bike course before the cut-off time," the PTO said in a statement.

"Given our philosophy to grow the sport and encourage new athletes, we wanted to give them as full an experience as possible. So they were all given the opportunity to do the 18km run and cross the finish line."

Fury's caption has received mixed reaction online, with some questioning his results while others praised his efforts.

It remains unclear if Fury will compete in a triathlon again any time soon and his boxing career also remains uncertain.

The last time he stepped into the ring was in May when he claimed a points win over Bosnian fighter Kenan Hanjalic.
