Déjà vu for Piastri as Norris complaint prompts immediate switch
For Oscar Piastri, it was another frustrating race stuck in no-man’s-land.
The Aussie finished seventh, well behind the top six, but battled hard at the death to keep Russell at bay.
Piastri and Russell battled for the second half of the race over seventh and eighth, with the McLaren able to hold on. The Mercedes driver lamented his “trash” pace after the race.

Oscar speaks on ‘tough afternoon’
Oscar Piastri has spoken on his afternoon in Austin.
“P7 today. It was a tough afternoon. I was glad I could keep Russell behind, but was obviously hoping for a bit more,” Piastri said.
“Start was good. Stop was good. Definitely wasn’t a lack of trying. Clearly we have some performance to find.”

Hadjar fumes at missed podium chance
Hadjar, who was screaming over the radio at multiple points of the race, spoke to his frustrations in the aftermath of finishing outside the top five.
“Clutch problem at the start again. We really need to redesign that part. Then we got stuck on a pedal map that was either 100% or 0%. Undriveable. Such a shame to bin a podium like that.”
Russell frustrated by ‘trash’ pace
George Russell, clearly frustrated with finishing eighth, says his “pace was trash, but the penalty didn’t help either” after the race.
Russell added: “I simply wasn’t fast enough. We need to understand why this is happening”.
He received a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits on lap one.
Horns up for Kimi in Texas
Antonelli acknowledges looming championship
Kimi Antonelli speaks after an incredible race, leading from start to finish bar his one pit stop.
“It was the result we needed. The whole team deserve it so much,” he said.
"All this time putting so much work on bringing this new package and finally seeing the result is very pleasant.
"It was also perfect execution from strategy to call the one-stop. Really happy we made it stick. Today was a great team effort."
Will he finally acknowledge the championship possibilities?
"We are very close. We try to finish on a high and hopefully we can clinch it very soon."

Verstappen says Red Bull was ‘not good enough’
Max Verstappen clearly laments some of the issues his car had across the race, speaking after finishing third in Texas.
“I think our overall pace was not good enough, and then probably also the tyres that we had available were probably not the right ones,” he said.
“So, that’s something that we have to understand, because the last few races it was always working well for us.
“For whatever reason it didn’t work out here, but we still managed to get on the podium. Maybe a little bit lucky with the VSC at the end, but I’ll take it."
He is out of the title race for the first time since 2020, if you can believe that. His era of dominance is over – for now.
