F1 gun rookie latest to share Aussie Supercars dream
Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad has become the latest F1 star to share a dream of one day racing Down Under in Supercars.
In an interview with Autosport, the Brit said he hoped to emulate four-time world champion Max Verstappen and compete in other categories while still racing in F1, but said he could see himself competing full-time in IndyCar and Supercars after his F1 career wraps up.

“Of course, I want a long Formula 1 career. I’d like to stay here for 10 or 15 years,” Lindblad said.
“Once that chapter is over, I’d like to try completely different experiences. I’d love to race in IndyCar for a few seasons. I’d like to try the Australian Supercars championship and explore other forms of motorsport that interest me.
“The world of racing is huge.”
Lindblad has had two tastes already of Supercars machinery. The first came in New Zealand in early 2025 when he drove a Chevrolet Camaro previously raced by Shane van Gisbergen.
Then last month, he drove a Ford Mustang at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in central England as a part of a broader Red Bull demonstration. He performed a series of doughnuts and burnouts.
“It was fun. It’s such a great noise – it’s so loud. A lot of power. Sequential gearbox, so it’s quite cool to be able to pull the gears,” Lindblad said at the time.
The only rookie on this year’s F1 grid, Lindblad has been a surprise performer. He sits 11th in the championship with 23 points, only two spots lower than teammate Liam Lawson (43 points). He has a best finish of seventh at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone last month.
He has finished in the points in each of the last six grands prix, with only Lewis Hamilton (12) and Isack Hadjar (seven) on longer points-scoring streaks.
Several current and former F1 stars have had a taste of Supercars machinery, including Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon and Oscar Piastri.
Alex Rossi was the last driver with F1 experience to race in Supercars. He competed in five grands prix for the now-defunct Manor team in 2015, and then drove in the Bathurst 1000 in 2019.
F1 is in the midst of its four-week mid-season break, which includes two weeks of mandatory stand-down. The season continues at the Dutch Grand Prix – a sprint meeting – on the weekend of August 21-23.
