'Mammoth' rebuild confirms 12th place start for Will Davison as red flag halts practice five
Will Davison will line up in the Bathurst 1000 as a "mammoth" rebuild by Dick Johnson Racing puts the veteran back in the race.
Davison experienced a 58G impact crash as he collided with the wall on approach to the "the Dipper", with the car's damage appearing irreparable.
The DJR team worked throughout the night to rebuild the Ford Mustang, starting the engine for a test in the early hours of the morning.

The car was stripped back to the chassis to attempt to repair the damage to the front and rear points.
Co-driver Kai Allen returned in the Mustang for practice session five on Saturday morning.
"I've been looking at Will Davison's car... I kid you not, when I came in here, that car was from that end of the garage to this end," Mark Larkham said on 7.

"I look around now, the garage is tidy again, the boys look sharp, they haven't slept but they're on their game.
"You can't throw (this car) together. Every metric has to be perfect. It's squared up beautifully. Now, they're getting about their business."
DJR team principal Ryan Story posted the results of his team's efforts on Instagram.
"See you in the co-driver practice session Kai Allen," Story wrote.
"Mammoth effort once again by the Shell V Power Racing Team."
Less than ten minutes into the practice session a red flag was waved on Mount Panorama as Jayden Ojeda's Erebus Motorsport Chevrolet hit the barrier on Hell Corner.
Ojeda returned to the track after a five minute delay, with a new front bar installed.
The Erebus was left to embrace the dust of Cooper Murray's Supercars assault as the Triple Eight wildcard powered around the track.
Murray put notice on his rivals as he fired consecutive fastest laps to finish with the fastest time in the session.
James Moffat followed with a time 0.424 of a second behind Murray, who is racing with seven-time Bathurst winner Craig Lowndes.
