Lowndes wins Bathurst with Steve Richards

Holden veteran Craig Lowndes has won his sixth Bathurst 1000 title at Mount Panorama.
Lowndes and co-driver Steven Richards completed the 161-lap enduro more than a second ahead of Ford's Mark Winterbottom and Steve Owen while Holden's Garth Tander and Warren Luff were third.
Jamie Whincup again left Mount Panorama a frustrated man after he was sensationally dropped to the back of the field for overtaking a safety car.

He baulked at suggestions he could surpass Brock's record.
Brock mentored Lowndes in his early days in V8s.
He leapfrogged Brock, Larry Perkins and Jim Richards with a 13th podium finish.
Lowndes and Richards - who claimed his fourth win - embraced atop the car.
Before saluting the delirious fans in pit lane.
The 41-year old won a 20-lap shootout after the safety car was out.
