Racing Victoria has been forced to cancel all remaining races at the 2025 Geelong Cup as dangerous winds continue to cause havoc across the state.

An indefinite delay was announced by event organisers at 2.15pm on Wednesday, with patrons forced to evacuate the Cup marquees due to forecast wild wind.

Organisers were initially hopeful that the meeting could get back underway after an hour break but those hopes were dashed. Rain added another layer of chaos to the day's schedule.

Only three of nine scheduled races ran before the meeting was called off.

Racing Victoria had scrambled to prepare for the extreme wind, with organisers removing all umbrellas around the venue to eliminate risk.

The Age sports journalist Peter Ryan reports that although the races have been called off, there is still a chance that the Cup will be run on Thursday at Geelong.

No formal decision on whether that will happen has been confirmed by Racing Victoria.
