Aussie hero’s warning after putting team on brink of 28-year first
Beginning the day with a historic milestone for Aussie Adam Scott, the International team swept the foursomes session on Saturday AEST to take a commanding 7-3 Presidents Cup lead over the Americans.
The deficit is the largest the US has faced in the event since 1998 - which remains the only year the Internationals have lifted the trophy.

Scott set a Presidents Cup record at Medinah, teeing off in his 56th career match, becoming the most capped player of the event.
The Australian veteran marked the occasion in style, teaming with Christiaan Bezuidenhout to secure a 3-and-2 victory over Justin Thomas and Cameron Young.
Despite the dominant showing, Scott immediately warned the squad not to celebrate “too hard” before the weekend is over.
Recalling his team’s early sweep at Royal Montreal in 2024 - which the Americans quickly erased with six wins the next day - Scott emphasised the need for focus.
“If we take something from Canada, it’s not to celebrate too hard at this point,” Scott said.
However, he noted a fresh confidence in this year’s squad that he found inspiring.
“From where I sit, if any of the guys were lacking belief, they should have it now.”
Fellow Australian Min Woo Lee also delivered a crucial point in the most tightly contested match of the session.
Partnering with New Zealand’s Ryan Fox, the duo fought back from a US mid-session surge. Fox’s putter caught fire late, draining clutch birdies on the 15th and 16th to flip the match and secure a hard-fought 1-up victory.
Aussie captain Geoff Ogilvy kept his team grounded as they prepare for Sunday’s pivotal double-header.
“We obviously had a great day. Didn’t expect that to happen, but I guess we’ve got experience from 2024 having a Friday like that,” Ogilvy said.

“It’s obviously enjoyable to have a day like that on the golf course, but we reset tomorrow and start again.”
The surge left US captain Brandt Snedeker scrambling, acknowledging his team has never faced a hole this deep.
“We’re not going to be able to get it back in one session. We’re not going to be able to get it back in one match," he said.
"It’s going to be a slow, steady process to try to turn this thing around.”
