Friends to clash in US Open final
Caroline Wozniacki and Serena Williams will put their friendship aside as they face off for the US Open title on Sunday.
The pair, who were photographed together at a Miami beach in May after Rory McIlroy ended his engagement with Wozniacki, are on the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of grand slam experience.
Two-time defending champion Williams will be vying for her 18th major title while the Danish former world No.1 is chasing her first grand slam title.
It was also soon after both had been bundled out of the French Open.
Williams got over her Roland Garros exit by crashing a wedding.
Her outfit on the day turned heads as much as her wedding crashing.
The pair had watched the Heat secure a place in NBA playoffs the day before.
Their relationship certainly won't be as friendly at Flushing Meadows.
Williams enjoys an 8-1 record over the Dane and won their only previous major meeting.
Williams is vying for her third straight title, a feat not achieved since Chris Evert in 1978.
Wozniacki progressed to the final after Peng Shuai retired as a result of the heat.
