Ange Postecoglou has attempted to brush aside talk of a potential Tottenham return as the club's horror form slump continues.

The former Spurs boss was a guest on TNT Sports' coverage of the Champions League clash between PSG vs Chelsea on Thursday morning (AEDT) when the topic of his former team's recent misfortunes kicked off.

Tottenham were thrashed 5-2 by Atletico Madrid a day prior and Postecoglou was asked point-blank whether he would 'return to an ex', to which he gave a stoic response.

"No comment," he replied.

Spurs have now lost six-straight games in all competition, with their last win coming against Eintracht Frankfurt on January 29.

The poor run of results has placed immense pressure on interim coach Igor Tudor, especially with the London club sitting just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.

Postecoglou was quizzed about where things have gone wrong for Spurs, but again tried to remain diplomatic given his relationship with some of the players.

"It's hard for me to say and me speaking about it tends to skew the argument," he said.

"There is no way that anyone objectively would say that these players are performing at the levels they're capable of - you've just got to try and ease the pressure on them.

"It's hard for me to comment from the outside - but for me, it's about instilling some belief and showing them the type of players they are."

Tudor has copped plenty of criticism since the loss to the Spanish giants after he opted to bench goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky for an ugly first-half blunder.

Aside from the on-field woes, Postecoglou has been vocal about the way Tottenham operate off the field, where the club has failed to spend big and attract top-line talent.

The 60-year-old doubled down on claims from an interview with The Overlap last month that Tottenham are "not a big club" due to their lack of spending.

"That's a broader argument but the reality of it is they've got to deal with it now, that's the most important thing," Postecoglou said.

"The football club wasn't behaving like a big football club in terms of the kind of players it was attracting - but it is a big football club, we saw that last year, there was a couple of hundred thousand people in London going nuts there and I felt how big a club it is.

"But in the Premier League it's a slippery slope once you take your eye off the ball.

"All that is not important right now What's important now is where they are in the league, they need to maintain their Premier League status which is obviously paramount."

Tottenham will face Liverpool on Monday morning (AEDT).
