'Devastated' Socceroos star set for scans after 'terrible tackle'
ARLINGTON: Football Australia has confirmed Jordan Bos will have scans on his knee after he was injured and carried off for the Socceroos in the final moments of the first half against Egypt at Dallas Stadium.
Bos went down in agony just before the half-time whistle, clutching his knee following a heavy challenge with Egypt’s Ramy Rabia.

“Socceroos medical team is liaising with his club (Feyenoord) regarding treatment/next steps,” that statement from Football Australia said.
The injury forced an immediate substitution for the second half from head coach Tony Popovic, with Kai Trewin brought on to replace the influential playmaker.
It shaped as a massive setback for an Australian side reliant on Bos’ drive, Socceroos assistant coach Paul Okon slamming the officiating at half-time.
“Terrible tackle. From what we understand the referee played advantage, but he (didn’t) come back and book the player,” he said on SBS.
“Yeah, disappointing, but we’ve got to move on and be better in the second half.”
Okon was equally frustrated by the nature of Egypt’s early goal, which gave them a 1-0 lead at the break.
“We’re disappointed we gave away a cheap goal from set pieces. Normally, we pride ourselves on that,” he said.
“I think we were a little bit late getting out. Maybe kept him onside but I think for us, it’s about keeping the ball.
“Once we get to five, six, seven passes, we seem to find pockets of space and if we can do that better in the second half, I’ve got no doubt we’ll create more opportunities for us.”
The injury blow to Bos, which could rule him out for an extended period, comes at a horrible time after his brilliant performances in the World Cup.
The wing-back was being spoken about as someone who could move to a big club, despite Feyenoord qualifying for the Champions League.
Craig Foster had said on Stan Sport’s Added Time that Bos and Lucas Herrington “can play for any club in the world”.

Jackson Irvine said post-match from the mixed zone that Bos is “unbelievably disappointed”.
“I didn’t get a close enough look at what happens but it’s not great to see him in a knee brace. We’re hoping for the best from him,” he said.
“Against Paraguay it (Bos’ performance) was one of the best individual displays I’ve seen from a Socceroo at this level. He’s an incredible player and will be a huge part of this team in the future.”
