Katrina Gorry uncertain about Mackenzie Arnold's fitness as the goalkeeping star sticks to limited training schedule

A cloud of doubt has been cast over the fitness of Matildas goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold after she has failed to take to the field for the team's training sessions this week.
Arnold looked set to retain the duties of being the nation's first-choice goalkeeper at the Asian Cup after it was confirmed that Teagan Micah, who had been favoured for the role in recent international windows, was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to concussion.
But Arnold has now sparked concerns of her own due to her lack of minutes at training.

The 32-year-old was only seen completing about 10 minutes of drills during Australia's open training session before she joined the team's fellow goalkeeper Jada Whyman in the strength and conditioning centre. Chloe Lincoln, who was called in to replace Micah, remained on the pitch.
On Thursday, Arnold returned to training but did not take to the field with the team. Instead, Australian DC Power star Morgan Aquino, who was not named in Joe Montemurro's Asian Cup squad, trained in her place.
A Football Australia spokesperson told the Sydney Morning Herald that Arnold was "in the gym", although did not provide any additional information about her absence.
Just a day later, she again was only seen training for limited minutes.

To add to speculation around her fitness, DC Power gun Morgan Aquino has been seen training with the goalkeeping group.
But veteran midfielder Katrina Gorry was unsure exactly what is happening with Arnold.
"I'm not too sure, to be honest," she told reporters at a press conference on Friday.
"I've just been focusing on myself and on the players that are out on the pitch. The physios are managing her."
Arnold's limited time at training comes just days after she admitted that she had not had a conversation with Micah about who would be the starting goalkeeper.
"Whoever plays, plays," she said at a press conference on Wednesday.
"I think they're going to be able to do the job anyway; we are all here for a reason."

Arnold also discussed how she is handling preparing for a competition without playing regular minutes like her Australian teammates, with the NWSL currently in the off-season.
"Obviously it is not ideal having the off-season over the Christmas break," she added.
"But we've been fully in pre-season now. We've had two pre-season competitions, so plenty of game time in that. It's been good."
It is unclear which way Montemurro will lean if Arnold is to be ruled out of the side's opening match against the Philippines on Sunday, with both Lincoln and Whyman having limited experience on the international stage.
Whyman has not yet been fielded for the Matildas, although is frequently called into camp alongside Micah and Arnold. Lincoln has three caps to her name.
Either way, Gorry is confident the pair both have what it takes to do the job need.
"I don't know Macka's case at all, or whether she'll be out on the pitch or not," she said.
"But regardless of if she is or isn't, we've got some great keepers in there.
"Maybe someone will get an opportunity, but I'm sure they're ready for. It'd be awesome.
"They've both been playing in good leagues. They've been playing some good football. And for us, whoever is in goals, we trust them with everything."
