Ben Stokes has spoken in the aftermath of England's Ashes defeat in Brisbane.

"Very disappointing. A lot of it comes down to not being able to stand up to the pressure of this format when the game is on the line."

"In small passages we've been able to bring the game back into some kind of control, but then we let it slip away. It's very disappointing because of the calibre of players we have in that dressing room.

"Overall, we need to show a little bit more fight when it is needed.

"It's not a skill thing. There's gifted players in that dressing room. We've got to dig a little bit deeper.

"Australia isn't a place for weak men. We're definitely not weak."

Mitchell Starc is named man of the match for the second straight Test match.

Steve Smith has refused to elaborate on what was said between him and Archer.

"That stays on the field. It was good banter. He's a good competitor. Good fun."

As for his hurry in smashing the winning runs:

"Just felt right then to play a few shots. He was bowling quick and I thought I'd attack the short boundary behind," Smith said.

"Heard there was a bit of a storm coming around, so wanted to get it done. High percentage with the short boundary behind me."
