Signing off for day one
Unfortunately nothing happened after the players went off for rain with South Africa at 2-20 after some Scott Boland magic.
Read Lachlan Harper’s day report HERE.
And we’ll see you tonight (AEDT) for all action from day two!
That’ll do us for now
We’re going to leave it there for our LIVE coverage of day one and re-start this blog in the Australian morning.
Hopefully some cricket ahead in the South African afternoon but it’s not looking great.
We’re off again
More rain at St George’s Park brings players off the field.
South Africa is 2-20 at another break.
Big appeal for hat-trick
The hat-trick shout brings about a big shout.
Temba Bavuma was hit on the pad but it definitely hit his bat before that.
Bavuma survives and it’s 2-12.
Boland on a hat-trick
He brought one back in to dismiss Aiden Markram.
Then the next ball, Boland’s delivery went away from David Bedingham and kissed the outside edge of his bat.
Alex Carey did the rest and Scotty has 2-0.
Scotty does it again
Who else but Scott Boland?
The fast bowler has produced a ripper to castle Aiden Markram for 11.
Boland’s peach of a delivery pitched well outside off and then jagged in aggressively to breach the gap between bat and pad before knocking middle stump out of the ground.

Cummins makes a switch
It’s Scott Boland into the attack now.
Perhaps Mitchell Starc will want a change of end next time.
We are back
The cricket has returned!
After rain and then a lunch break, the action is back with Josh Hazlewood taking the ball.
It’ll be interesting to see what Australia does with Mitchell Starc who struggled with the footholds and went around the wicket early in the piece.
WATCH: Ackerman gets off the mark
Relief for Ackerman’s family
Marques Ackerman is off the mark!
It was a nervy moment too because Aiden Markram stopped and then went again after a misfield.
But in the end Ackerman managed to get down the other end as his family celebrated in the crowd.
But now we’re going off for rain.
“It’ll be frustrating for the crowd and all involved, they had a long, long wait,” Nat Germanos said on Super Sport.
A heart-warming moment as the players walked off too with Ackerman waving to his son in the crowd.
