Marnus Labuschagne shows his intent with Shield ton as heat turns up on Sam Konstas
Marnus Labuschange has returned to form, and Sam Konstas has done the opposite with Test selectors served a compelling first round of the Sheffield Shield season.
On day three of Queensland's clash with Tasmania at Allan Border Field, Labsuchagne reminded Australia what he's capable of with a big hundred to stake his claim for an Ashes spot.
Labuschagne hit 160 in an innings that included 17 fours and two sixes after opener Matt Renshaw had also claimed a century the day before.

Importantly for Labuschagne, his century came off 154 balls, with the 31-year-old constantly being asked to bat with intent during his lean spell with Australia before he was dropped.

The Queenslander was lucky to reach the mark though after a stumping chance was missed when he was on 98.
Australian chairman of selectors, George Bailey, was in attendance for the hundred.
In the same innings, Usman Khawaja scored 69 at the top of the order.
Tasmania had been bowled out for 379 in the first innings, with another opening contender, Jake Weatherald, scoring 67. Jordan Silk hit 104.
Labuschagne was moved to the top of the order to accommodate Cam Green for the World Test Championship final.
He was dropped for the tour of the West Indies with Konstas selected ahead of him.
Australia's batters struggled on the tour, especially Konstas. The youngster scored a century against India A following the campaign but now has started his Shield season off horribly.

The opener was out for 4 in the first innings and then 14 on day three.
NSW scored 170 and Western Australia only made 161 in reply, indicating batting difficulties at the WACA.
In the other Shield match, Henry Hunt scored a century at the top for South Australia while Jake Lehmann also crossed the milestone.
Peter Handscomb hit 103 in reply for Victoria. The match is evenly poised with South Australia into its second innings.
