'Platform to build': Peter Siddle turns back on retirement, signs one-year extension with Melbourne Stars

Veteran Victorian pace bowler Peter Siddle has signed on for one more season with the Melbourne Stars for BBL|15.
It comes just weeks after the 40-year-old confirmed he would retire from all forms of cricket at the end of this summer.
But after a strong showing this season for the Stars, it was hard for the veteran to say no to another year.

Siddle, who has played 91 BBL games, is the Stars leading wicket-taker this season, will 11 to his name.
"It's great to sign on for another year with the Stars," Siddle said in a Stars statement on Sunday.

"I've really enjoyed my time in BBL|14 and whatever the result today (Sunday), I feel like there's a really strong platform to build on for sustained success and I can't wait to play a few more games at the MCG next season."
Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch lauded Siddle's efforts to keep up his fitness and contribute so strongly to the Stars success.
"Peter is a credit to himself and is a great example to all players in the way that he prepares himself for each and every game," Crouch said.

Additionally, Siddle has become a crucial leader for the Stars this season.
"He's not only a great performer on the field, but off the field he has been a wonderful support to both the coaching staff and leadership group, as well a great mentor for our younger bowlers," Crouch added.
The Stars lost their first five matches, before winning their last four.
They face the Hobart Hurricanes tonight in a must-win match to make finals.
