'Mind blowing': Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan banned from bowling over illegal action
Former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has been banned indefinitely from bowling after his action was deemed illegal.
In a statement released Saturday morning (AEDT), the ECB said an independent assessment of Al Hasan's action had determined an elbow extension "exceeded the 15 degree threshold" allowed in the rules.
Al Hasan was reported by umpires in a county game for Surrey against Somerset in September. It was his only match for the team.

He took nine wickets for the match and bowled 63 overs. He was not no-balled by the umpires at any point.

The suspension was effective from December 10, and he will remain ineligible to bowl "until he has passed an independent re-assessment of his bowling action".
Although the ECB only has jurisdiction over local county cricket, ICC rules dictate Al Hasan will also be banned from bowling not only from international matches but also other domestic competitions around the world.
The 37-year-old has played 71 Tests for Bangladesh with a highest score of 217 and best bowling figures of 7-36.
The decision puts Al Hasan's international future in doubt. He was not picked for Bangladesh's one-day series against the West Indies.
