Pat Cummins IPL captaincy role unlikely to land him T20I World Cup leadership position
Australia's coach Andrew McDonald has made his biggest declaration yet as to who will captain the country at the T20I World Cup in June.
Since Aaron Finch's retirement, Mitch Marsh has predominantly been captain of the short-form side, while Matthew Wade has also filled in the role at times.
Test and ODI skipper Pat Cummins has also been named captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming IPL season, providing McDonald with plenty of options for the tournament held in the Caribbean and USA.

Speaking after Australia's Test series victory over New Zealand, McDonald confirmed Marsh is in the box-seat to lead the side at the major tournament.
"That will be a discussion when we get home. I think all roads will lead to Mitch, so I've just got to get that ticked off in certain areas," he said.
"We're happy and comfortable with the way he's been able to operate with that T20 team.
"We think he's the leader for the World Cup, and I think that will just be a matter of due course."
Marsh captained the T20I side to a 3-0 series whitewash over the Black Caps before the Test campaign, and it now appears a foregone conclusion he'll lead the side out against Oman in Barbados on June 6.
The 32-year-old made his first big statement in his return to international cricket in 2021 when Australia won the T20I World Cup.

Marsh was player of the match in the final against the Black Caps, scoring 77 not out to deliver victory.
The following year, Australia were bundled out in the group stage of a home tournament. England went on to win the final against Pakistan.
