It’s over much sooner than we anticipated! Australia seal a dominant win over Bangladesh by an innings and 51 runs, with Mitchell Starc the standout.

Thanks for tuning into our live coverage for the second Test.

All eyes now turn to South Africa for the October tour.

It’s all over!

We’re back after the tea break and Lyon strikes immediately.

Smith takes a great low catch at slip and Taskin in on his way.

Shoriful comes out to bat and charges down the wicket, looking for a big shot and he gets a leading edge to Starc at backward point.

Perfect 10 for Starc

Starc returns to the attack and Taijul is knocked over immediately.

That completes a 10-wicket haul for the match for the Australian left-armer.

“This has been an outstanding display,” Kerry O’Keeffe said on Fox Cricket.

‘The end is nigh’

Cummins takes his third wicket, again with another short and quick ball into Hasan, who cramps himself and chips it up to Head at bat pad.

A third wicket for the skipper and Bangladesh are on the ropes.

“The end is nigh,” Adam Gilchrist said on Fox Cricket.

Mehidy is on his way now, playing a loose shot at a short and wide delivery from Cummins and edges it straight to Carey behind the stumps.

Bangladesh are now 6-69 and this Test could be over very soon.

“He will be disappointed there, it’s probably the worst ball that Cummins has bowled today,” Mark Waugh said on Fox Cricket.

“You feel like this came could finish very quickly.”

Starc grabs his ninth pole

Mitchell Starc has claimed his ninth wicket of the match and the Aussies are a step closer to potentially winning by an innings.

Bowling over the wicket to the right-handed Litton Das, Starc got the Bangladesh No.6 to flirt at a ball angling across him and found his outside edge.

Beau Webster took a simple a chance at third slip, with Das falling for a 10-ball duck.

“What a match he’s having,” Kerry O’Keeffe said on Fox Cricket.

“Execution of skill supreme.”

The tourists are 5-63, trailing by 83.

‘Soft dismissal’ hurts Bangladesh

Zachary Gates

The Aussies have their fourth wicket of the innings – and it’s come by way of ugly, ugly batting.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto had made his way to 31 runs, only to put a Nathan Lyon delivery straight down the throat of Mitchell Starc at long-off.

“I’m not sure where Shanto was trying to hit that,” Michael Hussey said on Fox Cricket.

“It was probably a bit of a soft dismissal in the end.”

Bangladesh is 4-51, trailing by 95.

Stroke of luck as Aussie lead reduced to less than 100

Zachary Gates

Bangladesh now trails by less than 100 runs – 97 to be precise – after a bit of fortune against the bowling of Nathan Lyon.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto went for a reverse sweep, and although he didn’t connect properly, the ball ballooned over the slips cordon and raced away for four.

Shanto is on 30, Mushfiqur Rahim has made a cautious 7 from 37, and Bangladesh is 3-49, trailing by 97.

Bangladesh batter’s agonising blow

Zachary Gates

Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim has copped a painful blow to his bottom hand as the tourists edge closer to trailing by less than 100 runs.

Pat Cummins sent down a back-of-length delivery and one of Rahim’s finger was smashed as he defended on the back foot.

The “freeze spray”, also known as the “magic spray”, was run out for him, and he received some strapping.
