As it happened: David Warner and Ellyse Perry take home major honours at 2020 Australian Cricket Awards

The comeback is complete! David Warner has capped a remarkable year by claiming yet another Allan Border Medal.

Warner has thanked Cricket Australia numerous times throughout the night for letting him back into the team, and he's pretty emotional as he addresses the crowd.

"It just puts it into perspective," Warner says of the last two years.

"Sitting back and reflecting upon the time I had away the game. You don't realise the importance and the impact it has on everyone.

"I'm grateful to be accepted back from the Cricket Australia players and fans. I had mixed reaction on how I would be accepted back by the fans. I'm extremely grateful for that.

"I'm obviously taken back by this. It's been quite challenging. It's hard to put a finger on where I should start, but I just want to thank Cricket Australia for that opportunity.

"Belinda Clark, Kevin Roberts and Justin Langer thank you for working your backside off to reintegrate us back into the cricket family.

"The work you did behind the scenes was absolutely fantastic. The way that Finchy and Painey accepted us and was always in contact with us.

"I really want to thank my club side Randwick-Petersham for giving me the opportunity play grade cricket.

"We don't understand that when we're in this bubble, the smiles to the faces we bring to these people. These are the smiles on kids' faces that we put on.

"To go back there and be reintegrated to grassroots and put a smile on people's faces it helped me to get back to where I am.

"Getting cricket taken away from me, something that I love, it really, really hurt."

Warner is also overcome with emotion as he thanks his parents and his wife Candice for their support throughout his 12 month suspension.

"My mum and dad, I've let you down in the past but you always stick by my side.

"My wife, My rock you're absolutely amazing. I don't know what can ever break you.

"You're an inspiration to me and the girls. You always seem to bring the best out of me and the kindness in my heart.

"I can't thank you enough for what you do for the family and I love you dearly."

The star all-rounder has done it! Ellyse Perry is named the winner of the 2020 Belinda Clark Award!

"It's actually a huge surprise," she says.

"I think considering how successful the team has been. It's been a really special 12 months, one that we will savour for a very long time. Every 12 months we have seems to get bigger and better."

Perry also touches on that experience of getting to bowl at cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in the Bushfire Bash.

"I certainly didn't mean to bowl it at Sachin's ribs first ball," she says.

"That was probably not the right thing to do. When they said we didn't have a new ball, I knew I had to dig it into the wicket a little.

"A very big and special thank you to everyone that has had a role in helping me.

"I feel very, very honoured to be standing here today. "

You just can't keep Alyssa Healy away from this stage! She's taken out yet another award, this time being named the women's international T20 Player of the Year.

Healy notes that it's a really good sign for the Southern Stars that half the team was nominated for this award.

David Warner has taken out the men's T20 Player of the Year award after a golden summer with the bat which included a T20 century against Sri Lanka.

It was of course a difficult 2018 for Warner, but what a comeback he made this summer.

The veteran opener mentions how that century against Sri Lanka set the tone for his dominance this summer after a horrible Ashes series.

"Just happy to be back and a part of it," he said.

"In all three formats of the game, the quality of blokes there, not just skill-wise but characters is incredible.

"I think (the T20 century) really set the tone for me personally.

"I'm extremely grateful for that opportunity from Cricket Australia and for my teammates for accepting me back in."

Former Australian paceman Craig McDermott and the great Sharon Tredrea are the two inductees into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame!

McDermott has done a mountain of work with Australia's current crop of pace bowlers and says that there is "no doubt" that Australia boasts the best pace attack in the world.

What a renaissance it was for Shaun Marsh in 2019 and he caps it by claiming the men's domestic cricketer of the year!

"Like fine wine," George Bailey says as he presents the 36-year-old with his award.

It's been a tragic summer for Australia, but it has been heart-warming to see the nation come together to raise funds.

Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts has revealed that the donations are approaching an incredible $8 million dollars!

Former Australian star Shane Watson reveals that the players are looking to donate an additional $160,000 as well.

What a year it has been for Australian cricket's rising star and he's beaten out Steve Smith and Pat Cummins to be named the Test Player of the Year!

Summer of Marnus indeed!

"It truly has been an amazing summer for me personally but more importantly as a team," he says.

"We've been amazing the way we've brought it together its been magnificent to be a part of to win 5-0."

Labuschagne has a hilarious story about his arrival on the scenes last year which started as the world's first concussion substitute for Steve Smith.

After arriving at the crease, Labuschagne too was hit on the head by Jofra Archer but has revealed why he kept fighting along.

"I said you definitely don't want to be the first concussion sub to be concussion subbed out of the game. That's enough reason to get up," he said.

"Lucky for helmets I would've had a broken jaw if not for it."

Wes Agar has claimed the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award while Tayla Vlaeminck has been named the Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year.

What a terrific year for the young duo who have had their meteoric rises rewarded.

The 2019 Belinda Clark Award winner has added to the trophy cabinet after a fantastic 12 months!

"A really special time to be involved in women's sport and cricket has been leading the way with a standalone tournament that comes up," she says.
