Hussey, Thunder hit for slow over rate

Sydney Thunder may have claimed a one-run win in their Big Bash League meeting with Melbourne Stars but they've been fined for the speed in which they did it.

Cricket Australia has penalised the club for a slow over rate as they restricted the Stars to 5-177 in reply to their 6-178 on Sunday.

Each member of the Thunder team has been fined $1000 - reduced to $500 if they accept their ban - and captain Michael Hussey is now under threat of suspension.

Should the league leaders be found guilty of another slow-over innings, Hussey will sit out a match.

The punishment seems tough on the Thunder, who were delayed considerably by regular mid-pitch conferences as the Stars plotted their chase.

Jacques Kallis denied James Faulkner in the final over to seal the dramatic win at the MCG.
