Glenn Maxwell put in a contender for one of the most amazing sixes seen in world cricket when he smacked Kuldeep Yadav for a 100m reverse-sweep six during Wednesday's ODI against India.

Maxwell, who finished with 59 from 38, kept Australia's run chase afloat before he was ultimately dismissed by a Jasprit Bumrah yorker as India went on to win the match.

But his innings wasn't without a host of big shots with Maxwell putting away four sixes which included a ridiculous reverse-sweep which left Australian legends Shane Warne and Mark Waugh stunned.

"He doesn't go early, he doesn't give the bowler a look at it," Warne told Fox Cricket.

"As a bowler, generally the batsman gives you a cue. Geez that's a big hit."

Waugh added: "That would have to be the biggest, longest reverse slog sweep shot of all-time.

"Even for a natural left-hander, that's a hell of a shot.

"That's a freakish shot. You can't describe it in any other way than there are very few people, if any, who can play that shot."
