CA boss's son to captain Aust U19 team

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland's son Will has been named as one of three players to captain the Australian under-19s for their series against Sri Lanka.

Sutherland will take the reins for the three-day match in Hobart on Saturday, while Jason Sangha and Param Uppal will lead the side during the five one-day matches.

All-rounder Sutherland, 17, captained the Cricket Australia XI at the under-19s championships where he was named in the team of the tournament.

"It's a massive privilege and a great team so I'm really excited," Sutherland said.

"I captained a fair few in the 19s championships for the CA XI so I've already been exposed to some of those boys and some of their skills."

Sangha, also 17, is a highly rated right-handed batsman who was the youngest player to earn a contract with NSW.

The 18-year-old Uppal is a batting all-rounder who starred for NSW Metro at the recent under-19s carnival, finishing with the equal-third most runs.

The 15-man squad to face Sri Lanka includes Austin Waugh, son of former Test captain Steve, and will be coached by former Australian cricketers Matthew Elliott and Ryan Harris.
