Ben Duckett pulls off 'best of all-time' BBL catch but Stars begin season with three losses in a row

Ben Duckett pulled off one of the best catches in BBL history, plucking a one-handed grab out of the air for the Melbourne Stars.

Fielding in the covers, the short Duckett jumped as high as he could and caught a D'Arcy Short drive with one hand, bringing the Stars fans alight.

It was a crucial dismissal for the Stars against Adelaide with Short departing for 60 off the bowling off Peter Siddle.

"One of the best of all-time," Mike Hussey described it as on Fox Cricket.

"D'Arcy Short hit that like an absolute rocket, he can't believe it."

"That was really special," Glenn Maxwell added earlier from the field.

Duckett's effort was a stark contrast to his teammate Tom Rogers who had earlier dropped a sitter from Alex Ross.

The delivery from Marcus Stoinis was skied into the air with Rogers under it from just behind the bowler.

At a crucial moment though, the 25-year-old took his eyes off the ball and dropped the chance.

"That would've been the perfect closure to that really tidy passage of play," Adam Gilchrist said.

"That's frustrating for Marcus Stoinis as captain."

At the time, Ross had two runs off seven balls but went on to score 35.

The Strikers finished their innings at 6-165.

In response, the Stars fell short, finishing 9-150 from their 20 overs and succumbing to a three-match losing streak to start the season.
