An unplayable in-swinging yorker from Mitchell Starc lifted the towering left-arm paceman into an exclusive club in Australian cricket.

Starc became only the seventh player to surpass 300 Test wickets for the country.

The other bowlers to achieve the feat are Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Nathan Lyon, Dennis Lillee, Mitchell Johnson, and Brett Lee.

The milestone wicket came just before lunch on day two at the Gabba, when a fiery Starc torpedo made a mess of Rassie van der Dussen and the stumps behind the South African batter.

Van der Dussen could not lay bat on the ball as it flew between that and his front pad, a perfect yorker that the best batters to ever play the game would have struggled to handle.

"He joins the greats," Adam Gilchrist said on Fox Cricket.

"You are a superstar, Mitchell Starc."

Only 37 bowlers in the history of the game have reach 300 Test wickets, and Starc has a better strike rate than all bar five of them.

The 32-year-old is playing his 74th Test match for Australia.
