Australia third Test player ratings in pictures: Unfortunate trend Australia's openers must end on Boxing Day

All eyes will be on Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja in the next Test on Boxing Day, as the openers look to reverse what's been a shaky start as a combination.
The opening stands between McSweeney and Khawaja have been 14, 0, 24, 19*, 31 and 11.
Both men did their jobs in the first innings, facing 50 balls each, but runs have been hard to come by.
Australia will be hoping for more from the two in an attempt to stop being put on the back foot from the get-go.

Usman Khawaja - 3
Batted through the opening day, but couldn't go on with it once the match properly got underway on day two.
Went looking for quick runs in the second innings but was skittled by Jasprit Bumrah for 8.
Nathan McSweeney - 2
His day two dismissal to Jasprit Bumrah, the fourth-straight time the Indian quick took his wicket, sealed McSweeney's spot in the history books, but for the wrong reasons.
He now owns the worst start to a Test career for an Australian opener in 40 years.
Failed again in the second innings by nicking behind a delivery he should've hit for four.
While the momentum stays with the Aussies, his spot is probably safe, but he desperately needs a score.
Doesn't look like opening suits the 25-year-old.
Marnus Labuschagne - 2
Off the back of his Adelaide fifty, Labuschagne looked in good touch again in the first innings before a loose shot cost him his wicket.
A loose shot in the second innings sent him packing for 1, in another disappointing Test for the under-fire batter.
Steve Smith - 8
Looked scratchy early, before the Steve Smith of old returned to belt a drought-breaking ton in a match-turning partnership with Travis Head.
Might've been disappointed to get out when he did, and how he did, but the sight of him raising the bad would've warmed the hearts of fans all over.
Was dismissed cheaply in the second innings after missing out on a leg glance.
Travis Head - 9
As he did in Adelaide, Head came to the wicket and changed the game in the first innings.
The Aussies were on the ropes when he arrived, and when he was dismissed five hours later, they were in the box seat.
Undoubtedly the most destructive batter in world cricket right now.
Mitch Marsh - 4
Failed miserably with the bat on both occasions but was brilliant in the field.
Took three brilliant catches in the first innings, none better than his diving effort at gully to dismiss Shubman Gill.
However, his all-rounder role will be under the microscope having only bowled two overs.
Alex Carey - 7
You feel a century is around the corner for the South Australian.
Returned scores of 70 and 20 not out and looks comfortable at the crease.
Did his job with the gloves, taking four catches and a stumping.
Pat Cummins - 7
As a tail-ender, scores of 20 and 22 are exactly what's needed.
Always took wickets when they were most needed too, with 4-81.
Only blemish may be the persistent short-bowling tactic to Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, which didn't pay dividends.
Mitchell Starc - 7
Just keeps doing the job for Australia with ball in hand.
Claimed three wickets, and more importantly two of those were top order batters.
