Australia A's batsmen fail to fire in Pakistan tour match

Selectors are in for a tough slog after Australia A's batsmen failed to fire in their tour match against Pakistan. 

After domination on day one, Pakistan returned on day two of the three-day tour match and reached 428 before being dismissed.

The massive total provided Australia A's top order with a golden opportunity to shine and showcase their abilities.

But the search to find David Warner's opening partner is still a puzzle that is missing the right piece; Joe Burns, Marcus Harris and Usman Khawaja all failed to fire.

Imran Khan proved the star of today's play, taking five wickets. He claimed Burns for a golden duck.

Marcus Harris (16) and Usman Khawaja (6) followed shortly after, the trio offering no answers for Pakistan's bowling unit.

Pakistan's domination continued beyond the top order.

With the number six spot up for grabs, Travis Head and Will Pucovski firmed as the frontrunners but both struggled and were dismissed for 13 and 5 respectively.

Australia A would find themselves at 6-44 when Alex Carey followed shortly after - an inside edge cannoned onto his own stump.

Australia A are 9-73 at the dinner break, leaving selectors in a difficult situation.

The two-Test series against Pakistan gets underway on November 21 in Brisbane.
