'A little odd': Steve Smith responds to Stuart Broad's eyebrow-raising 'void' claim
Steve Smith has hit back at Stuart Broad's claim that Australia's 4-0 win in the most recent Ashes series didn't count, calling the argument from the Englishman "odd".
Broad raised eyebrows last week when he suggested that Australia's win over the 2020-21 summer was \ due to the COVID-19 restrictions in which the series was played in.
Smith wasn't buying into the veteran paceman's justification of his side's performance.

"I mean, it was a little odd," he said.
"We were all there and playing so it was a little bit odd, you know? He's a nice guy and loves throwing out some good banter so it's all part of it.

"It certainly wasn't ideal scenarios. But the whole world was going through it and we were in the middle of a pandemic, so we couldn't really complain too much.
"We were actually out there being able to do what we love, so I don't really have much more to add to it."
Smith also responded to Broad's personal jab at the star batsman, when he said he'd love to see the Smith "sky one to mid off early doors". Smith retorted that he'd be keen to raise his Test average from its current mark of 59.80 to "hopefully 65 by the end of the summer".
The former Test captain has already touched down in the UK ahead of the World Test Championship final against India and the Ashes. He will make three appearances for English County side Sussex.
