UFC president Dana White has declared Conor McGregor's former team member, Dillon Danis, has been banned for life and blamed himself for allowing him to stay at UFC 322 before a brawl broke out.

Danis was involved in a wild crowd brawl that included members of Islam Makhachev's crew.

Danis was famously challenged by Khabib Nurmagomedov after he defeated McGregor in UFC 229, where the two traded blows.

The recent incident in New York on Sunday (AEDT) also happened close to the octagon where videos on social media showed security trying to break up a number of people.

Danis is seen being handled by staff before trying to run back in. He had to pick up his shoe during the process.

Other footage also showed him being punched in the back of the head, with one assailant appearing to be Makhachev's training partner, Magomed Zaynukov.

The 32-year-old could be heard claiming to security staff he didn't do anything and asking to sit back down. Police then tried to take him from security as he once again said "I didn't do anything".

In his post-event press conference, White explained every detail of what happened and took responsibility for the fight.

"I blame myself for that actually. They came back and told me right before I walked out for the main card that Dillon Danis was here and he was moving around sitting in fighters' seats and not sitting in his own seat," he said.

White added he was asked if he wanted Danis thrown out but decided to let him stay considering he'd paid for a ticket.

The president also revealed retired fighter Jorge Masvidal was seven rows away from Danis and had told security staff would "f--- him up on sight".

"It never even crossed my mind, as stupid as this could be, that the entire Muslim Brotherhood was here in the first five rows for Islam," White continued.

"As soon as it broke out, I was over the other side and thought f---, I know exactly what that is ... you will never see Dillon Danis at a UFC fight again."

White said the UFC wouldn't press charges against Danis despite being asked by police if the company would like to.

"I could've prevented this, I messed up," he said.

Fox Sports revealed the family of Aussie fighter and Makhachev's opponent at UFC 322, Jack Della Maddalena, were close to the all-in brawl. The UFC champion's mum had a barricade knocked over in front of her, according to the report.

The drama occurred just before the main card bout between Benoit Saint-Denis and Beneil Dariush started.
