Former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence will be Tim Tszyu's next opponent, in a bout that will take place in the US mid-year.

Wide World of Sports can confirm that Tszyu will fight the Texan at a venue to be confirmed during the US summer. The Ring first reported the news.

Tszyu will take a tune up fight in Australia in either March or April, and permitted he gets through that fight, Spence will be waiting for him.

Boxing News 24/7 reports the bout itself is expected to land at a negotiated weight between 147 and 154 pounds.

Tszyu is back in Miami, Florida training with new coach Pedro Diaz.

Despite consecutive losses in the US, the Aussie is still scoring bouts with American promoters PBC.

However, if he goes down against Spence, the calls will grow louder for Tszyu to hang up the gloves.

Some say fighting Spence now could be a major advantage for Tszyu.

The American will be 36 by the time they enter the ring and is coming off one of the longest inactive stretches of his career.

On top of that, Spence showed a decline in his last two fights, against Terence Crawford and Yordenis Ugas.

Tszyu and Spence have some history, with the Sydney fighter labelling the American a "punk" after he declared on social media he was wagering $10,000 on Tony Harrison defeating Tszyu in 2023. Tszyu won that fight.

That was after he said he was betting on Tszyu to lose to Terrell Gausha. The Aussie also won that fight.

Tszyu became WBO super welterweight champion in 2023, defeating Harrison and Brian Mendoza on his way to an unbeaten a 24-0 record.

He lost his belt to Sebastian Fundora in a bloody battle that was also for the vacant WBC strap in 2024, before a nasty third round stoppage defeat to IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev and a seventh round retirement loss to Fundora in their rematch.

He bounced back late last year with victory over little known American Anthony Velazquez.
