Cahill snubbed in The Don award nominations
The Australia Sport Hall of Fame has snubbed Socceroos World Cup hero Tim Cahill in naming the nominees for The Don award.
Seven athletes are up for the annual award, which is awarded to the athlete that through their achievements and example, has the capacity to most inspire the nation.
The nominees include an NBA champion, a Winter Olympic medallist, a tennis upstart, an F1 tyro, a cricketing hero and two Commonwealth Games gold medallists.
Nick Kyrgios. Shocked world No1 Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon.
Mitchell Johnson. Claimed 59 wickets against England and South Africa.
Patty Mills. Won an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs.
Sally Pearson. Retained her hurdles Commonwealth Games gold medal.
Michael Shelley. The runner won gold in the Commonwealth Games marathon.
