2024 Sydney Marathon champion faces lifetime ban from event after positive doping test
Reigning Sydney Marathon champion Brimin Misoi Kipkorir has been provisionally suspended after recording a positive test for a prohibited substance.
The Kenyan racer returned a positive sample of EPO and Fuosemide in an out-of-competition test conducted just two months after he won the 2024 Sydney Marathon.
Kipkorir set the course record in a time of 2:06:18 with his victory at the event in September.

The Athletics Integrity Unit announced the positive findings on Tuesday.
TCS Sydney Marathon confirmed no adverse findings were presented by Kipkorir in his pre-competition and in-competition tests conducted on race day.

However, Kipkori will be hit with a lifetime ban from the Sydney event if found guilty.
"We are extremely disappointed to learn that Brimin Misoi Kipkorir has failed an out of competition drugs test," a statement from TCS Sydney Marathon said.
"He is currently provisionally suspended from the competition pending the outcome of the case.
"The TCS Sydney Marathon along with its Abbott World Marathon Majors partner races is determined to make marathon running a safe haven from doping.
"We have a zero tolerance policy towards doping... (We) will continue to do everything we can to ensure cheats are caught and do not benefit from cheating."
Kipkorir is not the only Kenyan athlete under investigation for positive doping results, with three other racers also hit with provisional bans and suspensions this month.
Kenya's Diana Kipyoeki is currently serving six-year ban after returning a positive doping result which saw her stripped of her 2021 Boston Marathon title.
