Gout Gout's manager James Templeton has declared the teen sprinting sensation's name will remain as-is despite his father earlier this week correcting the pronunciation.

Speaking to Seven, Gout's father Bona said his son's name is Guot, pronounced 'Gwot'.

But speaking on SEN's The Run Home, Templeton declared Gout Gout would stay.

"Firstly, it is Gout Gout," Templeton said.

"Yeah, yeah, I know there's been a bit of discussion, and I know his dad made a few comments, but Gout Gout is how it's gonna be.

"Categorically, it's Gout Gout. You know, the thing you hope to avoid in your ankle. That's how it's pronounced."

Bona Guot said the current pronunciation was "not acceptable".

"His name is Guot, it's supposed to be Guot," Bona said earlier this week.

"When I see people called him Gout Gout I'm not really happy for him.

"I know that Gout Gout is a disease name but I don't want my son to be called a disease name ... it's something that's not acceptable."

An Arabic translation error by the Sudanese government as the family migrated to Egypt before Gout Gout was born is believed to be the reason behind the switch.

The 16-year-old last week broke a 56-year-old Peter Norman record when he ran 20.04 in the 200m final at the All Schools Championship.
